The Des tranchées aux barricades project began with a skirmish wargame rule published in French last year. We’ve since been contacted by a number of non-French-speaking players, so we’ve decided to translate the game into English.
Translated by Anne and Marc Dodinot, the rulebook is now available as a pledge and an addon. The English version includes erratas and the file on the revolutionary period in Germany (1918-1923).
This rule was to specifically cover the Spanish Civil War and to be entitled Julio 1936 based on 17 and 18July 1936 nationalist uprising. But that was without considering our curiosity about other conflicts of the first half of the 20th century and other various projects in the making, covering the inter-war period (the Russian Civil War, the Irish War of Independence, the Rif War…). It would therefore have been a pity to put these works aside. It was then decided that the game Des tranchées aux barricades would cover a 50-year period of history, from the Russo-Japanese War in 1904 to the end of the Indochina War in 1954.
Three thematic dossiers are contained in this book: the Sinai and Palestine campaign & the Great Arab Revolt during the First World War (1914-1918), the Revolutionary Period in Germany (1918-1923) and of course the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939).
